This is a nice, clean, straight 4" adjustable wrench marked, "CAPITOL MAR.11.84-FEB.16.86 U.S.A. PAT." on the one side of the moving jaw. This wrench was made around 1890, as Capital sold out to Whitman & Barnes around 1893. This one is 4" long, it is straight, has a straight handle, the jaws align nicely, and the adjustment is in good working order, with very minor wear. There is about 60% original nickel plating intact, some tiny dings noted. The jaw edges show minor wear. A very collectible small pocket adjustable wrench, one of the few I've seen like it! Capitol Tool Co., the maker of this wrench sold out to Whitman & Barnes in 1893, so we believe this wrench to be made before 1894. This is one of the most delicate fully enclosed sliding bar designed pocket wrenches, very often seen damaged beyond repair. This one is still in great shape overall!
