Terrific picture tile from the series designed by Walter Crane, "A Baby's Opera", c. 1880-1890. Here is "Where Are You Going To My Pretty Maid?" from the Wheeling Tile Company, Wheeling, WV, on a Wheeling Cushion back tile. The tile is transfer printed in a warmly colored palette and covered in a soft satin glaze. It is in very good condition with light wear to the lower edge and corners as seen; nick to upper left corner and right edge toward bottom. Please write with any questions you may have. **I have included pages from an original edition of the actual 19th Century "Baby's Opera"; the book is not included in this sale.
