Terrific picture tile from the series designed by Walter Crane, "A Baby's Opera", c. 1880-1890. Here is "Jack & Jill" from the Wheeling Tile Company, Wheeling, WV, on a Wheeling Cushion back tile. The tile is transfer printed in a warmly colored palette and covered in a soft satin glaze. It is in very good condition with light wear and nick to lower right corner and bottom edge toward center as shown.
