Vintage Craftsman Tap & Die Set w/ Wood Box

This is a very clean set of standard threads, National Course tap & dies, in size from 1/4-20 to 1/2-13". This is basically a Greenfield tool & Die LITTLE GIANT set, made for Sears Craftsman stores. The inside of the hardwood case is marked "CRAFTSMAN TAP AND DIE SET NO. 5671 5 CUTTING SIZES" along with some sizes listings, and instructions on the red/orange label on the inside cover. The outside also has a nice label on it and reads "HIGHEST QUALITY FULLY GUARENTEED CRAFTSMAN SEARS, ROEBUCK AND CO. THE WORLD'S LARGEST STORE". All the taps and dies have been cleaned and inspected, all are in good too fine condition, as well as the wrench, the die inserts, handles and box. The Little Giant trade mark dies are still being made today, so you can buy replacements for them if you ever needed them. These die inserts are all included in the sizes listed, and are original to this set. The taps are all top quality replacements, like Fastenal, Union, and Bendex, but none are original to this set. These type of dies are a very heavy duty design, and can be adjusted to cut a slightly larger or smaller diameter thread on a bolt, as the two inserts are on a fitted slide (so they lock in with a thread lock plate behind them), and adjusted to a gauge size required by means of set screws behind the die inserts. The die wrench is marked "CRAFTSMAN", but the tap wrench has no markings on it, it seems to be good quality like the little Giant type, has a bit of pitting on it, but works good. The set is complete in sizes 1/4-20, 5/16-18, 3/8-16, 7/16-14, & 1/2-13. All of the dies are marked with their actual size and part number. The box is very solid, and in nice condition overall, with some imbedded metal chips inside, and some dings on the outside, with good latches and hinges. A super clean and nice set from the 1920's-50's era!
