This lovely etching by Marie Laurencin dates from 1923 and is entitled Les Jeunes Filles au Violoncelle. Numbered in pencil " 64/70 " and signed in pencil by the artist " Marie Laurencin ". Mint condition. This print was purchased at auction from Park-Bernet Galleries in New York on 6/21/72 in sale 3391 and lot 135. Copies of our client's original purchase receipt may be forwarded upon request. It was framed under glass shortly thereafter and has resided with the same owner ever since. Frame measures 9" x 15" x 1". Plate measures 7.75" x 8". Exposed print (inside edges of matting) measures 8.6" x 9.25".
Based on a review of auction records in the Artnet database in the summer of 2006, the highest known auction sale for an etching from this edition occurred at Sotheby's London on 10/27/88 when lot 471 sold for 1,980 BP or the equivalent of $3,443 including buyer's premium.
