From the unforgettable satiric series "Gastronomic Homilies", possibly designed by Thomas Allen, for Josiah Wedgwood & Sons, Etruria, c. 1880, comes this in the series of twelve, "We Lessen Our Wants By Lessening Our Desires." Tile is transfer printed in navy blue on white clay and is in very good to excellent original condition with a small glaze flake at left edge an inch down from the top and several tiny nicks to right edge.
