This is such a beautiful lided box. I would say is was made as a jewelry box, but could be used for whatever you wish. It is quite large,11"X7 1/4"X3". It is made by a company called Incolay. They have a process where they use a type of crushed stone and mix it in such a way that when carved, it looks like natural stone. It is quite lovely. The carving is nice. I do not know if it is completely hand carved, but there does appear to be some hand finishing. No obvious chips or cracks. It is heavy.
