This fine nineteenth century Italian School painting on paper in brush and brown ink depicts the marble statue of Marcus Aurelius Antoninus Augustus, Roman Emperor from 161 to until his death in 180 AD. Gilded and glazed frame measures 25.5" by 29.5" by 1.25". Portion of the work visible under matte measures 16" 20". The work was appraised by Sotheby's in 1998 for insurance purposes.
