Offering this nice magnetic block marked Brown & Sharpe No. 760. It is designed to be used in precision parts inspection and can be used for light machining such as wet or dry surface grinding. It is 2.5 x 2.5 x 6" long overall. It's square, and precision ground. Turn the switch to on to hold the part, off to release the part and anywhere in between for a lighter hold if a strong hold is not needed. I have used this type block for grinding, it has limits on part size, but holds very well if the part is about the same width (2 1/2") or more. I use it more for inspection of parts we hold a part on an angle is easier for example. This block has a steel side rail and end rail from help in holding parts square (included). The condition is very good with only a few minor scratches, and an identification number lightly etched into the bottom clearance area.
Also included is a heavy duty hardwood case which has the B & S name marked on it. The case has an old repair on the side (shown in last picture) but is very solid and really help to protect this great old tool. Brown & Sharpe first offered the No. 760 block in 1940, but I am not sure if this one is that old. You can still buy a new one from a B&S distributor and they list for over $500.
