Antique American - AETCO - Children's Fables Picture Tile

$185.00
Quantity available: 1

Terrific picture tile in a classical setting from the series designed by Walter Crane, "Children's Fables". Here is "The Man Who Pleased None" from the American Encaustic Tiling Company, Zanesville, OH. Printed at the bottom of the tile after the poem is the moral of the story: "You Cannot Hope To Please All -- Don't Try." The tile is transfer printed in a rich and warm palette and covered in a soft satin glaze. Walter Crane's initials appear contained within a circle just below the horse's rear right hoof. It is in very good condition with light edge wear. These tiles are interesting in that they have adages similar to those on the Wedgwood tiles from the Homilies series also listed. Please write with any questions you may have.
