English Napoleonic Era Dog Head Cutlass

Unavailable
Brass hilt with flat recurved quillons with scrolled finials. Dog head pommel with integral backstrap and separate brass strap on the front of the grip. Wood grip with black cloth wrap (shrunk with age and small tears). Unmarked 22 ½" single-edged blade with round point. Original black leather scabbard (leather slightly shrunken from age), embossed with circles and stars, featuring throat, carrying band, and drag of sheet brass with two iron carrying rings. The rounded drag of the scabbard exactly matches the blade point, proving that the blade was intended to be rounded. Scarce style of cutlass in very good original condition with nice patina to brass. Minor staining and edge nicks on blade. Overall length 27".
