A very early "sucrets" tin using the chemical name of "Hexylresorcinol" for the active ingredient "Trochisci Hexylresorcinolis".  This was produced by Sharp & Dohme of Philadelphia and Baltimore.  They were in business from 1845 to 1953 when they merged with Merck & Company and became known as Merck Sharp & Dohme outside the US.   Merck, a German company, could now sell and market it drugs in the US under its own name.  They are now one of the top 5 pharmarceutical companies in the world.  This tin of sucrets originally sold for $0.25 as marked on the bottom of the tin.  It is in excellent condition with no wear, scrapes or tarnishing.
