Vogue Toddles Little Red Riding Hood Composition
Here is another beautiful doll from Nancys Dolls & Antiques. This is called a Toddles and was made by the Vogue Doll Co in the 1940s and was the precursor to the later Ginny doll of the 1950s also made by Vogue. This one is all composition on a 5 pc jointed , strung body. This doll is called Little Red Riding Hood. She has side painted eyes and eyelashes and soft red lips with brown eyebrows. Her face paint is very good with nice pink cheeks also. There is a lifting of the composition on her right side seam under her strawberry blonde hair which is mohair and nice and thick. The rest of her composition is nice. She is wearing her original printed dress over a matching printed onsie. Both have matching lace trim and both tie with the early very thin ties. Her red flannel hooded cape is faded with age and has a replaced ribbon tie. You can see this printed outfit on page 56 of the Vogue Encyclopedia and another picture on page 61. And lastly she has on the original red oilcloth center snap shoes, both in very good condition and her white rayon socks. The stringing is fine and she can stand on her own. She is marked Vogue on her neck and Doll Co. on her back. The Toddles dolls rarely come in this great condition with all of the pieces of the outfit in such nice shape. Look for my other Toddles dolls in a separate sale, Binky, Bunky, and Hansel.
