Vintage " Victorian lover's EYE " DEco bracelet

Unavailable
We acquired this very mysterious looking bracelet from a family member of 1940's costumer in London who created many accessories and costumes for dramatic plays like Hamlet. I also have one more unusual bracelet from the same costumer listed as well. (THis is from her personal collection and I will be offering more as they come to me). Eye miniatures were popular from around the 1780's to around 1830 and stories are told of how they are linked to loved ones and as memorials and even used to protect you with "evil" eyes. They are highly sought after and very collectible today. What is an unusual characteristic of this fabulous bracelet it the fact the eye travels and seems to follow you wherever you go.You can feel safe knowing it is protection you from every angle and avenue! Since this bracelet has the eye in the center I would guess that the play this was associated with was possibly Cleopatra or a medieval play where the eye would have been the subject. Surrounded by faceted garnet colored glass this is one of the most spectacular and bizarre bracelets I have ever had. I am sure it is one of kind and it is something to behold for sure! The base of the bracelet is from the 20-30's with raised relief all the way around. The EYE is so very real looking! Gilt filigree that looks like eye lashes surround it in its raised mount. The base is a thick 2 layers of flowers and leafs. The hinge and the clasp work great and it has a safety chain to protect it from loss. This measures 6 1/2" long on the inside and is 1 1/3" wide.I have more photos of this amazing aesthetic looking bracelet if you want to email me. This is Irreplaceable so there are no returns on this sale.
