This is an adorable Vintage Taxco Mexico Sterling brooch, depicting a man sleeping (taking a siesta!) with his back to a tree, sitting on a rock, and wearing a sombrero. The markings on the back are signed with what looks like L Jacobo, although the letters are not all that clear, and might have worn down with time, the marking of Taxco and 925, as well as the eagle mark, which looks like an eagle #3, are fairly clear, as you can see in the photos. This era is well known for the artisans and workmanship that introduced the great works of sterling jewelry from Mexico. This brooch has a 3D effect to it, the ground beneath the rock the man is sitting on is slanted forward, and the scene is sculpted and etched giving it a really nice soft textured effect. The weight is 7.7 grams, not pounds, (I just don't know the math conversion scale!)The pin back and clasp work perfectly, and there is no damage whatsoever to this piece. If you have any questions, feel free to ask, and I'll get back to you through GoAntiques.
