Vintage Sterling Religious bracelet holy Italian Cross charm European silver fob

Unavailable

So medieval this looks! The antique sterling cross hangs from an old coin tourist bracelet with silver coins from Republic di Marino. Mount Titano, on which San Marino is located, is named for the Titans, characters from Roman mythology. They tried to overthrow Jupiter, the supreme god, by piling one mountain on top of another in order to reach the sky. WIth a number of ancient castles and churches, this tiny country attracted people for hundreds of years. To think that this bracelet has survived this long is so amazing! THis has 20 coin links. The back of the coin shows the three towers: Guaita, Cesta and Montale. The towers were originally built as look out towers in order to protect the republic. Guaita is the oldest tower on the three peaks and overlooks the city. This tower was originally built in the 11th century and was briefly a prison at one time. Cresta is the highest of the three towers and museum to honour Saint Marinus is located in the tower. This tower was constructed in the 13th century. Montale is the smallest of the three towers and was constructed in the 14th century. The bracelet measures from 7 1/4" to 8 1/4" long and is heavy and well made. \ VintageSparkles offers Layaway on all our Etsy pieces regardless of which site it comes from. All layaway payments will need to be in the form of a check or money order only.
