Vintage Sterling Poison RIng Mermaid Cameo Fancy setting hallmarked Mythical Nude Goddess siren

Unavailable

This sterling ring holds an exotic mermaid carved cameo on the top of a secret box called a poison compartment.   The first stories of mermaids appeared in ancient Assyria, in which the goddess Atargatis transforms herself into a mermaid out of shame for accidentally killing her human lover. Mermaids are sometimes depicted as perilous creatures associated with floods, storms, shipwrecks, and drowning. This ring is a size 8. There is a safety catch on the compartment to keep whatever treasure  you have inside safe. The setting is 1" wide.       VintageSparkles offers Layaway on all our pieces regardless of which site it comes from. All layaway payments will need to be in the form of a check or money order only.
