This is a stunning and dramatic large vintage Art Nouveau Opalite Moonstone Gypsy pendant 

necklace (Sterling Silver pendant) signed A Paron (Amir Paron). This is a beautiful pendant, several colors of hand faceted opalite very unique. The necklace chain is a quadruple chain and is 20 1/2" long.

 

Born in Kibbutz Gaaton, 1960. His father immigrated to Israel from Czechoslovakia, his mother from Yugoslavia. Has worked with jewelry from the age of 11. Started his jewelry company Poran Gaaton, in 1989. Makes gold and silver jewelry and watches. Major influences on his work are Art Nouveau and under-water life. Exhibitions- has appeared in more than 80 international exhibitions in Europe, the U.S.A. and Australia.

 

Mystery surrounds the moonstone. In India it's considered sacred to lovers, and is also known as a "dream stone" bringing beautiful dreams. In Arab countries women sometimes wear moonstone as a symbol of fertility. It was also believed to be especially protective to seafarers, who have used it since ancient times. During full-moon, moonstone is very powerful for reconciling love - and as the moon decreases, is said to allow one to foretell the future.

 

This pendant or necklace is in good vintage condition, marked 925, weighs 21 grams and measures 1 1/8" by 2 1/4".
