Vintage Embossed Metal PopUp Cigarette Box

Vintage embossed silver metal pop up cigarette box with hinged top, holding 25 cigarettes, made in Japan. This retro piece, fashioned in the shape of a cube, has an elegant decorative design with Art Deco styling around the edges. The exterior appears to be made of metal which does not attract a magnet, with a silver colored plating. On the top, traces of a coppery color show through where the silver has worn off. The inside lid and the bottom have a mirror-like finish. Raised on the bottom are the words "MADE IN JAPAN" on one edge, and a rising sun mark in the center. When the hinged lid is opened, a gold-colored metal insert is raised with 25 tubular openings on the top and a bottom floor which also rises; the insert does attract a magnet. The cigarette box measures a little over 3 inches high, and 3.25 inches square, and weighs about 19 ounces. It is in good condition, operating smoothly. There is some wear to the interior and exterior surfaces, along with some damage to the upper right corner of the front panel, where there is some denting and loss of the outer silver metal plating.
