Vintage Avon 1876 Cape Cod Ruby Red Serving or Meat Platter. This pattern is reminiscent of the early American pressed glass called "Sandwich Glass". It featured lacy, intricate designs, fine background stippling and exquisite brilliance which reflected the superb craftsmanship of its makers. The pattern name commemorates the spirit of the 1876 Philadelphia Centennial, the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and Cape Cod, the area where Sandwich glass originated, Avon produced this piece in 1986. This platter is about 13" long and about 10 1/2" across, it is in excellent never used condition, comes in the original box, box is in good condition with slight shelf ware.
