This is a rectangular piece of vintage African fabric that can be used in manyways--as a skirt, sarong, in quilts, pillows, doll clothes. African women wrap the rectangular piece around the waist and tuck it in at the side waist. If there is a border on the side they always make sure the border falls straight from the waist alond the hip and leg. Sayings are sometimes near the bottom border. Although I know some Kiswahili I do not translate the sayings. This khanga does not have any Kiswahili saying. These are great for wearing in warm weather over a bathing suit or with a blouse. In Africa we wash them in cold water and hang them to dry. Usually they don't have to be ironed, but that depends on the fabric. This might fit in the small size Priority box, but I can't guarantee that.
