Victorian self-defense baton, or truncheon, circa 1900. Unmarked, though the thistle flower head leads one to believe it's Scottish, rather than English. Carried in a lady's purse or waistband. Appears from the wood grain to be maple. Measures 12"l. Marks from the turning lathe add character to the piece. Inglenook Antiques...Established 1990.
