Lidded majolica (faience) sardine dish, circa 1880. Heavy earthenware with high glaze. Measures 22 cm by 20 cm and about 11 cm high (8.3/4 inches by 8 inches and 4.1/4 inches high). Condition: presents well, has minor glaze losses around the edge of the foot rim, and a tight hairline crack in one corner inside. There is crazing to the interior. Nevertheless, a good-looking example.
