Trimont Pipe Wrench 14 inch Trimo 1916 Patent

This is a very nice, antique 14" adjustable pipe wrench, marked "TRIMO TRIMONT MFG. CO. ROXBURY MASS. U.S.A. TRIMO-TRADE MARK 14"" on the handle area, and " PATENTED 14" on the moving jaw. It is also marked on one side of the main casting "PAT'D 6/20/16" which we believe is the earliest patent on this design wrench with the metal handle instead of the wood handle like the earlier patented Trimo wrenches. In good++ condition with minimal wear, no rust, good straight metal and gears. The jaw edges show very little wear, and the jaws align well with one another, teeth sharpness is very good! Overall, a very carfully used antique wrench by the looks of it! The knurled thumbwheel design works great as it incorporates a pair of stamped steel U shaped washers, (formed to fit into the knurl wheel for smoother operation) that helps the thumb wheel turn much easier, and also guides the moving jaw better) than those without this feature. The washer is formed to fit into the main casting and the knurl wheel next to it, so it doesn't spin round and round. A very nicely designed hard to find size, nice clean wrench, from the early 1920's era. Measures 13.0" long (completely closed) even though it is marked 14" on the wrench, and the jaws are 7/8" thick. This wrench is one of the nicest we have seen in the past 10 years. We have seen some that were either painted or Japanned, but this one has neither on it at all, otherwise we would rate it as very good condition if it had the original paint intact. It is possible that it was never painted, but the paint most likely wore off over the years.
