Beautifully engraved certificate from the Treasurer of the State of Pennsylvania issued in 1852-1859. This historic document has an ornate border around it with vignettes of a teacher and student, children playing in an old school yard, and a statue of George Washington, and the State seal. This item is hand signed by the superintendent of common schools and a school clerk and is over 141 years old. This was a check written from the state to fund the local school district.
