7 3/16" x 9 5/16" vintage gelatin silver print dry mounted to board by Clarence John Laughlin (1905 -1985). Signed and titled on the mount, recto, with partial New Year's dedication 1950 initialed by the artist. The board mount has been irregularly cut; the print is intact.
It's hard to tell if this is a fallen and broken statue or just a configuration of stones and roots that suggests this shape. Laughlin's photographs are often associated with surrealism. His major book is the 1948 "Ghosts Along the Mississippi."
