Stool, Carved Walnut, English George I, c.1730-1740

To a fine and rare English Queen Ann or George I. Walnut stool with rich surface and patina. This example is carved with the acanthus leaves to the knees. Also with "C" scrolls and piped cabriole legs ending in pad feet. The stool has a removable slip seat which is covered in a rich, modern damask and has been reinforced with modern blocks under the seat. As with good English examples, which were subject to woodwork, this particular example has minor repairs and restorations.
