This is a very nice 6" long wing divider from the late 1800's era. This one is in very good condition overall, with a nicely formed style, made of one piece of metal, then formed into the shape you see. These are hard to find in this condition, as the spring joint on these was often stressed and cracked. With careful use, this style divider (compass) will last over a 100 years, and we have this one to prove it. The points are sharp, and the adjustment wing nut and threaded rod are all in great shape. We note one leg is about .2" longer than the other, but this shouldn't effect use, since this type divider will not safely close to less than a 1" distance between points, as this will stress the spring too much. This one has a capacity of about a 8" circle, or a 4" distance between points. A hard to find smaller capacity model!
