Small antique Lufkin Mezurall 6 foot steel measuring tape, No. 926, manufactured in Saginaw, Michigan. The Lufkin Rule Company was founded in 1869 and closed in 1968. It was the largest U.S. manufacturer of steel rules in the early 1900's. This steel tape has a blue enameled steel plate on the front, with the Mezurall logo. Impressed on the back is the Lufkin trademark, SAGINAW, MICH., MADE IN U.S.A. and PAT. NOS. 1,954,280 and 1,987,652. The last patent number was issued in 1935. The tape measure is about 1 3/4 inches high, 2 inches wide, and 5/8 inch deep. The half inch tape is six feet long, has clean and crisp markings, and a patent number of 1,828,401. The tape has a handful of tiny side nicks around inch 25, and a bend at inch 46. It is manually operated with no automatic return. Overall, it's a nice antique, functional item.
