Set of Mid-century Black Lacquer & Elastic Ribbed Chairs By Displayers Inc

Unavailable

Included here is a set of four side chairs made by The Displayers Inc. of New York, Ny, circa 1960. Their black lacquer finish is new and in excellent condition. Their elastic webbing upholstery is original and make the chairs very comfortable. Seat height is 16.75". These chairs were part of the company's "multi-combine" trademarked line of seating and are extremely rare. The Displayers was a leading exhibition fabrication company catering to architects, designers, corporations and museums in New York in the early to mid twentieth century. They are known to have built 13 exhibition halls at the New York World's Fair in 1964, but little else is known about the firm. It is likely the modular multi-combine seating line represented a failed attempt by Displayers to enter the commercial furniture market. This set of chairs resides with our client near Hudson NY and may be seen in person by appointment. Reduced from over $4,000. ( rlevin )
