Set 12 Meissen Porcelain Figural Painted Cabinet Plates

Included here are twelve antique Meissen cabinet plates with white and cobalt blue grounds, gilded edges, and featuring unique village scenes of common folk at work and play after the important Flemish painter, David Teniers II (Antwerp 1610-1690 Bruxelles). Each measures 9 5/8" across (24.4 cm). All date from the late nineteenth century and have the blue crossed swords mark, impressed marks 10 and I, and all are signed with the monogram "CH" with the term pinx. or fec., the Latin term meaning "has made it". (Decorator's name is unknown.) Eight plates have scenes contained within grisaille style ribbon-tied borders, and four have scenes within faux bois borders with oak leaves and acorns and edged with a gilt band. Overall condition is excellent. There are no chips or visible cracks or repairs. There are noticeable scratches to the painted decoration which can be seen in our images here.
