Magnificent rosewood Victorian cylinder secretary in wonderful original condition. It has a large open carved arched crest on top with a finial on each side. The two doors have the original glass framed by a lovely molding that has an acentuated arch at the top. There are carvings and a raised shaped panel on either side. Notice the lovely satinwood interior in bookcase section! The three adjustable shelves have rosewood fronts. The mechanical cylinder roll goes up when the writing surface is pulled out. The felt on the writing surface has some stains but is still usable. This desk has a spectacular interior with five cubbies, six drawers and fancy trim. The drawer fronts and trim are made of satinwood. The former have a gorgeous rosewood decorative raised design which contrasts beautifully with the light satinwood. The base has one long drawer over two cupboard doors with a molding around recessed panels. There was a molding between the two doors that is missing but is not structurally necessary. There is a single shelf in the base. We have original working keys for the lockcs. The rosewood grain throughout this secretary is vibrant and gorgeous as you can tell from the pictures presented here. A wonderful majestic secretary in fabulous original condition! Circa: 1860.
