For is a wonderful art pottery vase made by The Rookwood Pottery Company of Cincinnati, Ohio. The piece is a called a tapered shoulder form. It has a wonderful Arts and Crafts Design. The Glaze is done in the ever popular Country Blue. The vase is a nice cabinet size as it stands 5 3/16" tall and is 3 1/4" in diameter at the shoulder. The opening of the vase measures 2 3/8" outside rim measurement.
The Vase displays a very beautiful speckled country blue glaze. It has a wonderful incised Arts and Crafts horizontal band of geometric blocks at the shoulder. There are two rows of geometric blocks running along the band. There is an upper and lower row. The blocks are done in such a way that it almost looks like an open zipper. If you could push the lower row up it would look exactly like a zipper.
The piece is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no absolutely no issues to report. This is an exceptionally clean Vase both inside and out.The vase is signed on the bottom with Rookwood's reverse "RP" and sunburst logo. There is also the mold number "2284" and roman numerals "XXVIII" for the year of manufacture, 1928.
This is a wonderful Arts and Crafts designed Vase. It will look outstanding on that Stickley Arts and Crafts Style Bookcase. I'm quite sure the buyer will be very pleased with their purchase.
