Meriden Brittania Sterling Silver Water Pitcher

Unavailable

This is an elegant sterling silver water pitcher, made by the Meriden Britannia Company, circa 1900. It has been done in the “Marie Antoinette” pattern, its neoclassical silhouette is graced with floral and leafy motifs on rim, body, base, and even the handle in a beautiful manner. On each side of the pitcher, the band of leaf motifs, below the spout, the widest part of the body, have been cleverly designed to form a subtle “M” (presumably for Marie Antoinette). This pitcher has not been monogrammed and is as lovely today as the day it was made. Its base is marked with the pattern name, pattern number, “STERLING”, its capacity of 5 pints, and the symbol for the Meriden Britannia Company of Meriden, Connecticut. This beautiful pitcher stands approx. 12” tall, approx. 4-1/2” diameter at base, and weighs approx. 48 troy ounces.
