Large "Bambi" figurine, made between 1942 & 1946 by American Pottery, Los Angeles, California. Licensed by Disney, this figure is one of the earliest of this character. Measures 7.5"h. No markings (original foil label is gone). Has retained it's cold-painted features (over-glaze) in the red nostrils and mouth. Light crazing of the glaze as expected, but no chips or cracks. Shown on page 69 of the "Disneyana Collector's Guide to California Pottery" by Devin Frick & Tamara Hodge. Inglenook Antiques...Established 1989.
