Gorham Sterling Silver Greco-Roman Decorated Box

Unavailable

This is an interesting and unusual Gorham sterling silver box. Greco-Roman design inspired this box, as seen by the dye-cast band of a chariot race which wraps around the entirety of the piece. The cover is hinged and has a unique undulating surface, while the interior of the box is of finished wood. The edge of the box is hallmarked with the Gorham seal (lion, anchor, “G”), “STERLING”, and an arrow, which dates the box 1909. The box measures approx. 5 ½” x 3 ½” x 2 ½”.
