A hard to find Texas Civil War document...... The State of Texas, County of Jackson Know all men by these presents, that I Joseph Able as principle and we M W Alexander & A L Fox as securities are held and firmly bound unto Jeremiah Baldwin in the Sum of one Thousand ($1000.00) dollars for the payment of which well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and administrators jointly and severally firmly by these presents, signed with our hands and sealed with our seals, using scrawls for seals this sixth day of December A.D. 1861. Nevertheless the condition of this obligation is such that whereas the said Joseph Able has sued out an attachment in the Honorable the District court of Jackson County before District Clerk of said court against the property of Jeremiah Baldwin defendant in attachment which said attachment was issued the 7th day of Sept 1861 and is made returnable to the next term of the said court, and whereas the said attachment has been by B. Danzey sheriff of the said county of Jackson levied upon the following described property of the said Jeremiah Baldwin defendant in said attachment, To Wit: one negro man named Dave valued at five hundred dollars and whereas the said Joseph Able has replevied the same and made, executed and delivered to the said Jeremiah Baldwin defendant as aforesaid this his replevy bond for all said hereinbefore mentioned property which said p[property was valued by B. Danzey sheriff as aforesaid according to law. Now, therefore if the said Joseph Able plaintiff attachment shall be condemned in action of attachment aforesaid, and he the said Joseph Able in attachment or some other person for him shall return the specific property attached and hereinbefore set forth to satisfy the judgment that may be rendered in this suit, in attachment then this obligation to be null and void, otherwise to be and remain of full force and virtue.
