A 1931 or 1932 first edition, third printing of Raggedy Ann's Wishing Pebble. This is book #5 in the series. It lists to Raggedy Ann's Lucky Pennies, Book #16. It was written and illustrated by Johnny Gruelle and published by M. A. Donohue Co. It has the printed scene end pages. All the pages are intact with no markings or tears. It has minor corner wear but the covers and black spine are in excellent condition with no wear or skuffing. The book now has a protective mylar covering to prevent any future wear or skuffing. Johnny's daughter, Marcella was a sickly child and suffered from the side effects of a powerful smallpox vaccine. Johnny told his daughter stories about the Raggedy Ann doll that she had found at her grandmother's house. The doll had no face and he painted the now famous face with the black eyes, red triangle nose and separated mouth on the old doll. After Marcella's death in 1915 Johnny immersed himself in the work of putting into written form the many stories he used to tell Marcella to keep her entertained. This was the start of the first Raggedy Ann stories in 1918.
