Prussian Crackeled Glass Goblet with Castle Scenes

This unique nineteenth century antique goblet or compote in bright ruby red crackled glass features three gilded panels depicting estates and castles, plus a center panel inscribed with the name "Rudolph Hempel". Measures 8.25" high and 5.75" across and weighs over 2 lbs. Gilding is in excellent condition. There are no visible cracks nor noticeable chips. No hallmarks. Depicted on one panel is the Schloss Erdmannsdorf in the former Silesia region of Germany, and modern day Czech Republic, which was a royal chateau and residence of Prince Heinrich of Prussia, brother to King Frederick II. This item resides with our client on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York city, and may be seen by appointment. Additional images forwarded upon request.
