Nice ladle by Porter Blanchard that is beautiful and hand made. Obvious hammering marks. Great piece that look like a piece of Georg Jensen. About 6" long. Good condition circa 1920. Porter Blanchard (1866-1973) made wonderful handwrought Arts & Crafts silver in his studio in Burbank, CA, with retail locations near Hollywood agents and stars. He eventually became known as the "silversmith to the stars". His work is well known and celebrated among collectors of Arts & Crafts silver. He was a member of the Boston Society of Arts & Crafts, and was elected a Medalist (the society's highest rank) in 1944. He helped found the Arts & Crafts Society of Southern California in 1924, but unfortunately it did not survive past 1930. Blanchard hails from a long line of well-known silversmiths including: George P Blanchard (his father), Richard Blanchard (his brother), and Allan Adler (his son).
