Beautifully engraved SCARCE uncancelled 60 year $1,000 Income Mortgage Bond Certificate from the Philadelphia Reading and New England Railroad Company issued in 1892. This historic document was printed by the American Banknote Company and has an ornate border around it with a vignette of a terminal with a turn of the century scene with horse driven carriages and period dressed people passing by. This item is hand signed by the Company’s Vice President and Secretary and is over 110 years old. There are 60 uncancelled coupons attached to the right side of this certificate not shown in the scan. This is the first time we have had this for sale.

In August 1892, the Philadelphia, Reading and New England Railroad Company was incorporated as a consolidation of the Central New England & Western. In 1899 the railroad became the Central New England Railway Company. In 1907 the Newburgh, Dutchess and Connecticut, the Poughkeepsie and Eastern and the Poughkeepsie Bridge Railroad Company were also joined to the same Central New England Railway Company.
