This extraordinary pair of ormolu bronze candelabra in the Louis XVI Rococo style date from the third quarter of the nineteenth century, and come from the Paris studio of Henri Picard, the accomplished fondeur and doreur. From 1831 to 1864, Picard cast and gilded decorative objects, including lighting, clocks and mounts for furniture, for the leading designers of the period.  The firm is most widely respected for producing objects for the apartments of Napoleon III which now reside in the Louvre.  Measures: 28 x 15 x 12 in; 71 x 38 x 30 cm.  Stamped "Picard".
