Offered for sale is a pair of beautifully hand decorated Limoges porcelain oyster plates manufactured in Limoges, France some time during the 1890's and imported to the US by L Straus & Sons. The green underglaze Limoges star on the base of each plate indicates a Limoges blank, and the accompanying overglaze red L Straus & Sons mark (L S & S / France) indicates decoration for, and importation by, L Straus & Sons some time in the mid- 1890's. Each plate measures 9" from scallop edge to scallop edge, each sits on a foot rim and measures approximately 1" from table top to its highest point, and each weighs just under 1 lb.
