Pair Gilt and Silvered Bronze French Neoclassical Figurative Fireplace Chenets by Bouhon

This lovely pair of bronze figures from the Napoleon III period depict male and female reclined on Empire style recamiers with silvered and gilt finishes.  They date from circa 1860 and come from the studio of Bouhon Freres, also known as Bouhon et Cie.  Measures:  10.75 x 13 x 3.25 in (27.3 x 33 x 8.3 cm).  Condition of each is good.  There is rubbing to the gilt surfaces, scratches and small dents, all consistent with age.  Marked "BOUHON Fres". According to Sotheby's, Bouhon were prominent bronziers specializing in decorative fire surrounds and fireplace fittings, and exhibited at the 1878 and 1900 Paris Exposition Universelle in Paris in 1878 and 1900.  Another pair in gilt bronze were sold by Sotheby's in New York on November 3, 2005, in lot 608 for $15,600 including buyer's premium.
