Pair Antique Oriental Chinoiserie Paris Porcelain Gilded & Painted Vases

Unavailable

This pair of antique porcelain vases feature extensive oriental decorations, including gilding, paintings of song birds, reticulated pedestals, and elephant mask handles with stylized, elongated trunks.  They have an impressed oval-shaped hallmark with sunburst and the number 607.  Maker and country of origin are unknown. Each measures 17" tall, 8.5" wide and 6.5" deep. There is a professional restoration to the rim, some very small nicks, and a repaired break to the handle of one vase which is visible in one image. The pair are certainly of continental origin, likely Paris or Austria, mid to late nineteenth century.  Their form, size and quality of decoration identical to a pair of Paris vases sold by Sotheby's in New York on 11/09/01 in lot 30 for $9,600, in their sale of 19th Century Furniture and Decorative Works of Art.
