Pair Antique Marble Lion Bookends After Antonio Canova

Included here is a matched pair of female, recumbent lions carved from marlbe, circa 1900, after the large pair created in marble by the Italian Antonio Canova (1757-1822), which reside in the Vatican beside the tomb of Pope Clement XIII. Each measures approximately 11.25" wide, 4.5" deep and 5" high, and the estimated weight of each is 10-14 lbs. There are some cracks and repairs and no hallmarks. These items reside with our client on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York, and may be seen by appointment. Additional images forwarded upon request. ( hantiques )
