Pair Antique Greco-Roman Painted Porcelain Table Lamps

Unavailable
Included here is a matching pair of antique hand-painted porcelain vases, likely of French origin, converted into lamps in the early twentieth century. They feature classical ( Roman or Greek ) chariot racers painted on one side. Above and below the scenes are repeating Greek key motifs spanning the circumference, and three-dimensional antelope heads are applied at the shoulder. These vases were mounted on metal pedestals and sockets and wiring were added in the early twentieth century. There is a single large scale socket with ceramic diffuser and two standard size sockets, but the lamps require new wiring which we will be happy to complete for an additional cost. Each measures approximately 31" tall to the top of the tallest socket. Overall condition of each is good. There are a few noticeable scratches, but no visible cracks or chips. There is some heavy grime in spots, such as on the antelope horns, and they would both benefit from a gentle cleaning. These items reside with our client on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York city and may be seen by appointment. Additional images forwarded upon request. ( hantiques )
