Pair Antique Barbedienne Cast Ormolu Bronze Vases After Claude-Michel Clodion

This magnificent pair of mounted, gilt bronze urns in the Neo-Grecian style, after Claude-Michel Clodion were cast by Barbedienne of Paris in the last quarter of the 19th century. 18 x 7 x 6 in (46 x 18 x 15 cm), and formerly mounted as lamps. One carries the stamped mark of the foundry, "F. Barbedienne".  The design is featured on pp. 99-104 Clodion 1738-1814, by Anne L. Poulet et al., Musee du Louvre exhibition catalogue, March 17 - Jun 29, 1992.  A similar pair, but with missing lids, were offered with an estimate of $5,000-$7,000, and sold for $6,250 by Sotheby's in New York, October 15, 2015, in lot 1.
