Included here are a matching pair of acrylic dining or side chairs, circa 1971, by Rena Dumas (1938-2009). They feature padded, silver metallic upholstery which is relatively new and very clean, with no stains, rips or other damages. The lucite at the bottom of the feet do show scratches and bits of grime, consistent with age. An architect trained at Ecole Nationale Superieure des Art Appliques et des Metiers d' Arts, she is known for her light- filled interiors for Hermes, Christie's, and Yves Saint Laurent. The wife of Hermes CEO, Jean-Louis Dumas, she also designed buildings, interiors and furnishings for Hermes throughout the world. This particular design is documented in L' Utopie du Tout Plastique 1960-1973, by Philippe Decelle, Diane Hennebert and Pierre Loze, published by Fondation pour l' Archtecture, Brussels, in 1994.
