Osborne Pistol Grip Leather Cutter Slitting Tool Gauge

Unavailable

This is a good used early-mid 1900's vintage cast iron, pistol shaped, and graduated 4" steel leather slitting tool or gauge, generally designed for cutting strips of leather, but may have other uses as well. It comes complete with a good sharp hardened steel cutter that is marked "C.S. OSBORNE & CO. MADE IN U.S.A." and is sharp and about 3" long overall, no size of use, like new. The gauge has adjustable width feature that has a graduated scale in inches on it. The tool is marked on the top of the graduated bar "C.S. OSBORNE & CO. HARRISON N.J.", This tool was originally patented on the date of July 17, 1877 on this design. The slide bar has the capacity from 1/4"4" widthes, and can hold a cutter up to 1/8 x 5/8". The pistol shaped handle appears to have about 95% of the original paint intact, in very good shape, no rust or damage. All in good condition with no cracks or damage, and the set screws are in useable shape. A very good clean vintage leather working tool!
